New Year, New Forum Website

Happy New Year, and welcome to the new look Hanover & Elm Grove Communities Forum website!

The website has remained largely the same since being first setup, so the time has come to do a bit of an update and refurbishment. All of the same information previously available via the old design remains available on the new site (please note, some parts may be inaccessible while the finishing touches are applied, but long-term, everything will be there!), but the reorganisation will hopefully allow for a number of additional functions.

Key to this is a desire for the Forum website to be able to function as a Hanover directory of sorts. While some of the groups who are represented on the Forum have an online presence of their own (either via a full website or Facebook/other social media), others do not, and so it is hoped that the Forum site can develop into a hub that can be utilised by any group/project that needs it. For example, community venues can display facilities and bookings info, projects can provide details of regular events/meetings, and events can be featured in more dedicated areas of the site rather than everything going into one single news feed, with SEO to allow for good visibility for those who want/need it. This will be a purely opt-in resource, but it is hoped that with good take-up, it will provide a kind of social and cultural map of what’s going on across the ward and area. If you’re involved with a group, place or project and think this might be something you’re interested in, get in touch!

We are also aiming to update the main news feed more regularly in the New Year, so if you have anything you want to give a shout out to in the area, get in touch too!

As a reminder, the Forum meets monthly, typically on the 2nd Thursday of the month at the Phoenix Community Centre and online. All residents, workers, and volunteers in the area are welcome, and the more projects are represented, the better connected we can be. We hope to see you soon!
