FOOD PROJECTS

Phoenix Food Shop
Phoenix Community Centre

The Phoenix Food Shop was setup by the Phoenix Community Association as an instant response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to deep levels of food inequality in the area. It now runs weekly on a Social Supermarket model, aiming to provide good quality, nutritional food, community support, and nutritional education at an all affordable price.

Phoenix Food Shop is not means tested, but does require members to register.

For more info on registration, volunteering opportunities, and more, visit phoenixfood.org

Pankhurst Pantry
The Edge Community Centre

The Pankhurst Pantry is a volunteer-run affordable food project based at the Edge Community Centre at the top of Pankhurst Avenue, near Brighton Racecourse. The project has two key objectives: using surplus food that would otherwise be thrown away, and providing free or low-cost shopping to community members in need of support.,

The Pantry does not require referrals, but does welcome enquiries from professionals working with people in need in the area. Anyone living or working near the Edge is welcome to attend. A donation of £5 is suggested, but payment is on a pay-as-you-feel basis, so that those who can afford to make a donation support those who can’t.

For more information contact pankhurstpantry@gmail.com or 07751 644051.

The Toast Club
